Voyages of a Lifetime by Private Train

Africa
Beautiful Africa rewards visitors with the exciting thrill of discovery.
From the wonderful Victoria's Falls to the Ngorongoro crater, this extraordinary continent is a
magnificent destination for those prepared to step off the more beaten holiday tracks. Africa's
wildlife is unmatched: not only the 'big five' - lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard and rhinoceros -
but a bewildering array of other creatures from gorillas to crocodiles await to delight the traveller.
Yet Africa has far more to offer than 'just' magnificent scenery and extraordinary wildlife. It is
believed that mankind originated here, and this huge continent - covering more than a fifth of
the earth's land mass - boasts the results of centuries of constant human endeavour, from Egypt's
pyramids to the famous Cape Winelands of Southern Africa.

Just as symbolic of mankind's
efforts is the Cape to Cairo railway - the 19th Century dream of empire-builder Cecil Rhodes.
He never saw the great project finished (there's still a 500-mile gap in the rails even today), but
what has been built is an extraordinary tribute to man's ingenuity and it is the inspiration for our
very own unique route northbound from Cape Town to Cairo. It is also the perfect way to see
this remarkable continent at first hand, in luxury. The epic journey over 6,000 miles from one
end of the Africa to the other is now possible and to complete this immense voyage we use a
combination of the Pride of Africa train, a private jet and a five star Lake Nasser cruise ship.
In a world where 'everything is possible', this is truly a unique adventure.
Highlights of Our Tours
-
Cape Town - The impressive presence of Table Mountain, flanked by the legendary Devil's
Peak and historical Signal Hill, stand proudly above this beautiful city and our starting point
for our voyage of a lifetime.
-
Cape Winelands - The largest wine producing region of South Africa located in the Western
Cape Province. Splendid mountains form a dramatic backdrop to lush vineyards and gabled
Cape Dutch homesteads steeped in history.
-
The Garden Route - The Garden Route is situated on one of the most beautiful stretches of
coastline in South Africa overlooking the Indian Ocean. Mountains and forests crowd close
to a shoreline dotted with beaches, bays and rocky headlands.
-
Fish River Canyon - Located in the lower reaches of the Fish River, the longest river in
Namibia. A gigantic ravine, 161km long, up to 27km wide and in places almost 550 metres
deep. It has been gouged out of the surface of the land in the course of millions of years by
the forces of nature.
-
Skeleton Coast - Named for all the shipwrecks that are beached on these inaccessible and
remote shores of Namibia. This coastline is one of the most inhospitable and least visited
places on earth.
-
Victoria Falls - One of the world's natural wonders and the largest 'curtain' of water in the
world, over half a million cubic metres of water crash every minute from the Zambezi River
300ft into the gorge below.
-
Ngorongoro Crater - Ngorongoro Crater is one of the world's greatest natural spectacles, its
magical setting and abundant wildlife never fail to enthral visitors.
-
Serengeti National Park - The Serengeti is the jewel in the crown of Tanzania's protected
areas and it is the instinctive migration of wildebeest and zebra every year for which
Serengeti is perhaps most famous.
-
Great Pyramids - The Pyramids of Egypt are among the largest structures ever built and
represent one of the most powerful and lasting symbols of the Ancient Egyptian civilization.
