Dear Sylvia and Ted:
Thanks for your Welcome Back card. Our Rocky Mountain Railtours trip was superb. All of the arrangements worked out exactly as planned, but of course, that was expected.
What was NOT expected was:
(a) The level of luxury at the Fairmount Paliser Hotel in Calgary
The room was huge, the amenities were swell, the service was great, and the price was right. We knew we would be satisfied, but we hadn't expected to be so pleased with the hotel accommodations. Thanks for your recommendation.
(b) The comfort of the Rocky Mountain Railtours train and the level of personal service provided by the car attendants
We didn't actually go into the Gold Leaf service dome cars, but from what we saw we were quite happy with the Red Leaf service. Seems to us that having meals and snacks served at your seat beats having separate service down below, and the big picture windows allowed us to see the scenery quite well. The seats were very comfortable and the footroom was more than ample. However, the best part was the car attendants they gave the right amount of information about the points of interest, were just chummy enough and not too much so, were knowledgeable and helpful and hard working. Tim Fenteman in our car from Calgary to Kamloops was outstanding.
Thanks for your help in making arrangements. We could have made them directly, but we wouldn't have done nearly as good a job. The tips you sent out before the trip were very helpful.
What we will do is keep telling our friends what a fine trip we had, and who helped us arrange it.
